It’s a mother(@*&$ walk-off!

Posted in Television by Michelle on May 6, 2008

It would be hilarious if there was a walk-off between NBC & Bravo, Weinstein, and Lifetime. Anyways, the chess match for Project Runway continues. The advantage seems to be leaning just slightly towards NBC right now after they signed on the PR producers to an NBC-exclusive deal. But even if the producers don’t join the show on Lifetime, I wonder if they would bring on non-exec producers from Magical Elves like Michael Rucker. Next to the Amazing Race and the Mole, this is one of the best reality shows of all time. I’m really hoping the network squabbling won’t change that.

Aggh! What are they doing to project runway! Lifetime bought the show? The producers aren’t going with the move? wow…

Well the Weinsteins want more $, Lifetime wants to draw a different audience than the one they’re currently drawing, and the Magical Elves’ producers want some security in that fickle beast they call Hollywood.

All understandable, except if the quality of the show diminishes. And it’s on LIFETIME FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Nothing against new exec Andrea Wong and her attempts to make the channel less, well, less Lifetime. But it’s going to be odd if cable’s widespread attempts to target the 18-49 demo creates homogenization across cable channels.
