Ph.D in TV

Given how much I love television, sometimes I’m a little conflicted about the idea of Ph.Ds in TV studies. The primary reason being, will you lose your ability to enjoy the show from an entertainment perspective if you’re spending your time analyzing it? Can there ever be a thing as too much TV?

That being said, how cool is this academic conference about papers that analyze Buffy? Way cool.

    ahh, I originally entered college wanting to get a degree in mixed media studies. I envisioned going off to MIT for a graduate degree in their new media lab (electronic media), working with professor henry jenkins.

    Alas, somehow I am now in law school…

    There can be too much TV, but if it’s really GOOD TV, analyzing won’t kill your love and/or enjoyment of it. From personal experience, I’d say the Slayage conferences are excellent evidence.
