The FUNNIEST Tribal Council EVER.
One of the best things about Survivor is, of course, the blindside. Especially when it’s done to arrogant, holier-than-thou players. For instance, Earl and Yau-man’s ousting of the Edward-Mookie-Alex triumvirate.
The last three episodes of this season’s Survivor (Gabon) have more than made up for an overall uneventful season.Last episode’s Tribal Council was the funniest ever because 1) Sugar’s reasons for voting out Randy and 2) Crystal literally SHOUTING out why she was voting out Randy. It’s Ken’s reaction – the slight “Wha?” in his eyes and Sugar’s hysterical giggling in particular that gets me. I may have rewatched that segment a dozen times. I can’t think of any Survivor contestant that has ever deserved this more than Randy. I’d recommend watching the last several eps just to really appreciate this ep, but it’s a great stand-alone itself. Click here for the full episode. Click here for just the Tribal Council. Also check out the the excellent recaps from the Survivor recapper for TWoP.
(I just realized I was spelling “Council” as “Counsel” and had to go back and edit. I’m not even British. WTF.)

Yeah you read that right. Hamster on a Piano.
W.G. Snuffy Walden’s Corner of Inspiration
Today I discovered W.G. Snuffy Walden (I know! Craaazy unique name! If you’re going to have a kid or going into Hollywood, take a name that reminds you of Smurfs. Everybody loves the Smurfs!). Um, anyways. Today I realized this guy is responsible for two of my all-time favorite TV themes. He might have cornered the market on lush, inspirational themes that just might make you weep a little bit.
The West Wing Theme:
The Friday Night Lights Theme:
Tick-Tock on Late Night
Gawker’s take on the Roots signing on as Jimmy Fallon’s house band when he takes over Late Night:
“On one hand, we’ll get to see The Roots on TV every night; on the other hand, Black Thought opening for Jimmy Fallon every night is the cultural equivalent of Miles Davis playing his horn on the subway platform to back up a semi-trained dancing spider monkey.”
HAH! So true. I don’t know if I’ve ever found Jimmy Fallon funny.
New Watchmen Trailer
I realize it’s fall movie season, the release of the new Bond, and some Oscar-baiting fare around.
But you guys, the second Watchmen trailer doesn’t disappoint. Not quite as beautiful and awesome as the first, but it does the job nicely. Click here for the new one.
“I’ve cornered the market on losers?!
… Wait, does that mean I’m a loser? I’ll punch Rodney’s face out!”
