TV Tidbits

Showtime’s been on a roll with their series lately, and this new show adapting comic book “The Exterminators” sounds super interesting.

Also, the countdown continues – 27 days until the Season 2 Premiere of Mad Men! Showrunner Matthew Weiner announced the show will cover 5 seasons and span 10 years. I’m a huge fan of this new trend of showrunners with successful shows being able to set a definitive end-date . Especially for shows like Mad Men, Lost, Battlestar Galatica – such a key to sustaining the pacing, the narrative, and the character development.

35 Days to Go!

Mad Men’s back July 27th! Only 35 days to go! In honor of this special occasion, check out this NY Times article about the show and its creator Matt Weiner. Yes, it is long. But totally worth it. July 27th I say!

Imagine: Michael Scott with Jazz Hands!

Posted in Television by Michelle on June 5, 2008

I haven’t posted in a really long time, but I have an amazing, A+ excuse lined up – my computer at home wouldn’t let me! Every time I tried to go onto my dashboard and write a post, the damn thing went fritzy.

First off all, my neighbors got cable. Life-changing I tell you! So while summer’s a slow time for TV, there are some notably super-bright spots I can now take advantage of. Project Runway 5 is returning in July, but more importantly MAD MEN is coming back JULY 27TH.

When I first watched Mad Men, my thought was, “Holy schneikies! This was the 60s! The 60s were so recent! Things were like that so recently?!” How it came to be on AMC is a testament to 1) HBO’s folly and 2) the growing competition in the cable sphere in developing interesting, prime-time fare.

I will most likely also check out The Singing Office, too, mainly because I have this deep down (Ok fine, not that deep) desire that we could just break into musicals in real life occasionally. The premise of the show isn’t as compelling as the idea that we could break into song at work. Break out those jazz hands, y’all.
