What’s the Best Pixar Movie?

Posted in Movies by Michelle on July 11, 2008

So, I wrote this post weeks ago but like a dolt forgot to actually POST it. Anyways, to coincide with the release of Wall-E the folks at Vulture ranked the Pixar films. While we’re at it, here’s another Vulture post about Pixar.

I can’t say I particularly loved Cars, but I love Pixar’s trend towards less and less cute characters but less subtext in messages. As someone said about Wall-E: “It’s the happiest and most depressing post-apocalyptic movie I’ve ever seen.”

It’s such a quality portfolio that it’s very difficult to rank the films, but for now, my favorite Pixar films are:

9. Cars

8. A Bug’s Life

7. Toy Story 2

6. Toy Story

5. Wall-E

4. Monster’s Inc.

3. Ratatouille

1. Finding Nemo, The Incredibles

Pixar is my favorite movie studio, and this NYTimes Video from critic A.O. Scott highlights some of the many reasons why Pixar has earned that rank.
